It is with this theme that #BraveFutures arrives in Salvador.

#BraveFutures is an intersectional program that challenges filmmakers to make a short film within 48 hours using their city as a setting. After successful editions in Johannesburg, Berlin, Guadalajara, London, and Cape Town, the intersectional platform will bring the concept to Salvador, Bahia, in October 2024, through an unprecedented partnership with DiALAB.

Recognized as the Black Capital of Latin America, Salvador is a city in love with its people, a living expression of an ancestral beauty rich in culture, memory, and resistance. With the theme Fabações da Cidade Negra, we invite you to celebrate Salvador as a place where the borders between the real and the imaginary dissolve, providing a scenario of infinite possibilities. A place where the freedom to invent new worlds is what inspires our creativity.

With Salvador, Bahia, as the setting, 24 artists, distributed across 6 different teams, will be selected to create, produce, and finalize a short film lasting 3 to 7 minutes in up to 48 hours. Each film must incorporate the elements of Brave Futures: a theme, a location, and an action. At the end of the process, all films will be shown publicly and compete for various awards.

To participate, you must form a team of 4 people and pre-register online for free. Filmmakers with any level of experience can apply. The program prioritizes filmmakers who are often marginalized by the intersections of race, gender, ethnicity, class, sexuality, and educational background. Brave Futures invites and challenges the next generation of filmmakers to develop stories that represent their power and resilience in an independent production environment that is based on intersectionality, inclusion, and social impact.

Registration is completely free and is open until August 7th, 2024.
